About the role

This is your chance to join a fast-track insurtech venture on a mission to take the commercial (re)insurance placement workflow into the 21st century and beyond. 

As a key member of our engineering team, you will be working as part of a cross-functional team to drive our core features from start to finish. This will include contributing to defining technical requirements, influencing technical direction and design, UX designs, and implementation of these features. You will also contribute to the research, suggestion and selection of future technologies that can further enhance our product offering.

Our teams have a high degree of autonomy and ownership and we are looking for candidates who can work with minimal supervision.

What you'll do

  • Create an extraordinary experience by developing a world-class product addressing key pain points in a large market; 
  • Design and develop on a Ruby on Rails backend application along with microservices written in Golang, Node.js, and Python;
  • Design and develop a React-based application, delivering a streamlined, elegant front-end experience;
  • Integrate with a wide range of external systems using a range of different technologies, and built out our platform to 
  • Design within technical constraints while being aware and mindful of business objectives, helping prioritize requirements; 
  • Contribute to the development of innovative/value-add features e.g. document extraction and generation, open API documentation, and more (imagination is the limit) 

What we look for

  • 2+ years of frontend & backend development experience; 
  • Experience with Ruby, ideally with the Ruby on Rails framework;
  • Familiarity ReactJS (or other modern front-end framework); GraphQL experience is a bonus;
  • Experience in managing development features end-to-end with significant ownership; 
  • Familiarity Golang, NodeJS or Python is a plus;
  • Any development experience in the following fields would constitute a plus: process automation, open APIs, marketplaces, enterprise software, mobile applications;

Interview Process

We have a simple and transparent three stage recruitment process - we move quickly and want to respect your time.

Step 1: Video call with the Hiring Manager (30 minutes)

Step 2: A technical interview via video call with two members of our engineering team. We have a short take-home assignment that should take 1-2 hours to complete, and during this stage of the interview, we will ask you to walk through your solution, giving reasoning behind your decisions and approach. (1 hour)

Step 3: Video call with Harry Porter-Mills, Head of Technology & Infrastructure (30 minutes)

If all goes well we’ll make an offer!
